As SSM’s System Vice President for Oncology and Clinical Lead of the Oncology Clinical Program (OCP), Dr. Daneker is the physician executive responsible for overseeing SSM cancer, precision medicine and research programs.

Dr. Daneker co-founded the OCP, the system cancer service line, and has led the program from concept to maturity by integrating cross-regional and system providers, nursing, administration, IHT, supply chain, and adjacent functions. He has been a clinical architect of the system oncology strategy for the expansion of disease-site service lines, integrated delivery networks, and enhancement of allied health services.

In addition, Dr. Daneker has extensive experience in managing the development of clinical research and precision medicine programs. He led a detailed analysis of system and regional oncology research followed by implementation of the concept for clinical trials expansion through a unique Integrated Research Organization partnership. He identified collaborative clinical research opportunities with St. Louis University and oversaw the selection and adoption of the system genomics platform.

Dr. Daneker has also served as the SSM System Clinical Lead, Palliative Care Program, SSM Vice President and Medical Director, Oncology Services, and SSM Regional Chief Medical Officer (Interim). Prior to this, he was the System Corporate Chief Medical Officer at City of Hope Cancer Care (formerly CTCA) and served as the Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at City of Hope – Atlanta.

Dr. Daneker has extensive academic appointments, teaching, and research experience. He holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Maryland, School of Medicine, Baltimore. He completed a residency in general surgery at the University of Cincinnati, and fellowships in cell/molecular biology at Harvard Medical School and surgical oncology/tumor biology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.  Dr. Daneker also completed an Advanced Management Program from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. He has held faculty appointments at Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Clark Atlanta University and the Morehouse School of Medicine.
